Why Join?

It is never too early (or too late) to start planning for your dream career, and the most successful students do. Making the right decisions at school will be crucial to the opportunities subsequently available to you beyond education.

Joining clubs and societies, volunteering or taking on a part time job are just a few ways you can start making steps to developing your future. But another way to develop yourself, and help you make those big decisions, is to join or establish the Bright Futures Society in your School.

The Bright Futures Society is currently in over 50 UK universities and has recently launched in schools as well. We will help you boost those important employability skills that will shine out on your CV, in your applications and at interview, as well as connect you direclty with employers looking to recruit and develop school leaver talent.

The committee will run a wide range of events that are innovative, informative and often unique, all to help you engage with employers, develop your skills and to find out what’s out there for you in the big bad world of work! If you have anything in mind that you want them to run, just ask! They are always happy to hear from their members, it’s your society after all!

So, if you think this might be of interest to you, find out if there is already a society in your school and join it! You won’t regret it! If you don’t, then start your own! The society it led by students for students, all supported by a national body (that’s us) and a whole host of employers who invest in the society to get in front of talented and career-focused students (that’s you).

As a National Team we also run big events for you to take part in, especially if you become a committee member. Check out the calendar to see what’s going on across all our schools and universities and what we’re up to nationally too!

Having a Bright Futures Society in your school can really make a difference for the school and its students. Castle School in South Gloucestershire were the first school to work with Bright Futures to set up a society in the UK. This is what they have to say...

“This is an enviable opportunity for our students to help shape a ground breaking initiative. The students will be leading this initiative: it is their society and that's what makes it so special. For me as Head Teacher, the Bright Futures Schools Society is a unique opportunity for our students to develop a range of essential employability skills in a truly challenging and creative way.” ~ Melanie Warnes, Castle School Head Teacher

The first event the committee organised was attended by over 100 students! They now recognise the value of engaging with and learning from major employers about what skills they need to suceed and the diverse choice of careers open to them.

"Being part of Bright Futures has been a fantastic opportunity for both myself and The Castle School. Working closely with Bright futures to organise our first event was incredibly useful to ensure its success. The wide range of contacts they have with companies really did boost the profile of the event and I have enjoyed every second of my experience so far!" ~ Miles Thompson,  Castle School Society President

Gareth, Reading

"As President, I have been able to improve my communication and leadership skills, which have allowed me to network more effectively between diverse groups of individuals and organisations. Moreover, this society has given me the opportunity to put theories learnt from my course into practice in the business and working environment."
