"Enabling students to make the right decision, at right time, for the right career"
The Challenge for Young People and Schools
School leavers are faced with evermore complex choices about continuing their education into College or University or going straight into employment.
The pressure they are under to make the right choices is immense, particularly with the major uplift in tuition fees for 2012. Both Higher Education and work are good options but which is right for the individual student?
Typically a key element to what they lack is current and up-to-date information on those choices which quality employer engagement can provide them.
Schools are under increasing pressure to help students make the right choices but often lack the resources and expertise to do this really effectively.
“Young people are not developing the knowledge and skills of the labour market”
Dr Deidre Hughes, ICG President.
Careers advice in schools in England is “patchy and inconsistent”, according to the Institute of Career Guidance (ICG). The UK-wide body warns that a whole generation is not being taught the skills and knowledge needed to enter the labour market. And Teaching Unions say their members could not be expected to be employment experts as well as teachers.
The Challenge and Opportunity for Employers
Employers are keen & want to engage with schools and their students for both their school leaver programmes as well as with a view to the future through their graduate programmes but with over 5000 secondary schools it is a huge task requiring lots of resource.
The Bright Futures Solution
Bright Futures Careers has the solution to this challenge and can provide students with the insight and skills they need to make the right decision, at the right time for the right career.
Bright Futures already work with many of the major school leaver recruiters and a network of professionals who can work with schools, leadership teams and parents to help young people better understand their choices, drive up their employability for the world of work and ultimately set them on the path for the right career.

"The Castle School are thrilled to be working with Bright Futures setting up the first Bright Futures Schools Society in the UK. This is an enviable opportunity for our students to help shape a groundbreaking initiative. The students will be leading this initiative: it is their society and that's what makes it so special. For me as Headteacher the Bright Futures Schools Society is a unique opportunity for our students to develop a range of essential employability skills in a truely challenging and creative way. This work will enhance the school's track record of innovative approaches to learning and our commitment to student leadership. We are excited about being the first but also the chance to shape something that will not only make a difference to us & our students but in time make a difference for others.'
